Trying out some new color pallets and a simplistic style.

I feel like I haven’t been posting the best content, but I can promise that next week I’ll post some really cool shit I’ve been working on.

I sketch a lot at work and mostly work in ink. When I was younger I worked in pencil and disliked the feeling of pens. I still do like pencils more, but I do love how simple and unapologetic ink is.
Daily Sketch. For a while I was on the mermaid train like everyone else. I really want to draw some fresh water mermaids in the future.

Happy New Year! Thanks for following me <3
I made a short comic based on the Poem “Rebel” by Bei Dao. You can learn more about him and read his poems at https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poets/bei-dao

This project was suppose to just be a chance for me to record my work times and practice some different coloring skills, but it turned into a project I’m really proud of. Rarely do I finish an art piece and feel, yeah that’s what I had envision.
A couple weeks ago I went on a little vacation with my family to this wonderful winter land. Crossed the mountains from Fall and jumped into winter.

Unfortunately these pictures don’t do it justice. I would describe it like hiking in Skyrim.

This piece helped push me to make a finished piece and work past the rough/sketchy stage. It’s something I struggle to do.
I always love seeing an artist process, though I wish I documented it better.
First the sketch, usually I’ll clean it up more but I didn’t realize I was going to make this into a project lol. Thought it would be just a daily color study.

Next the colors. I’m really focusing more on value here then exactly color choices.

And here’s the big jump from a rough to an almost completed painting. Here is where I finally got some reference to correct the lighting.

And now I start figuring out a more interesting background.

Having changed the background now I need to clean up parts of the painting (mostly with the lighting). Here’s where I really cleaned up the face and changed the palette to be warmer. oh look, she’s no longer a floating head.

And then I added just a couple of adjustments and warmed the palette again.

Hey everyone, today is the last day for the “Cthulhu is Hard to Spell” anthology. We already reached the funding goal, but if you wanted to support or preorder the anthology go check it out.

I want to thank all of you who helped support the projected by either donating a $1 to buying your own hard copy. It’s really exciting to have the comic I worked on published and I couldn’t have done it with out your guys help. 🙂
